According. to the soil classification by Backer & Herza the soils are first class. deep. more than two meters above the marl, and of medium texture ( sandy clay loam to silt clay loam). The soil is non-saline as the average salinity of the soil moisture of the saturation extract is less than 4 mmhos / cm.
The average annual rainfall is about 250 mm. Hence the crop production depends mainly on irrigation water supplied by the Jordan Valley Authority through their irrigation network in the Jordan Valley.
N.B. Dates palms are inter-planted with Asparagus, Citrus and Grapes, so the total crops area is about 350 Donums.
